Liene was born in Jurmala – near Riga – in a family of musicians. Her father is a guitarist.

After graduating from Silva Krasauska's flute class at the E. Darzins Music High School in Riga, she studied at the Latvian Academy of Music with Prof. Vilnis Strautins.

Liene regularly returns to Riga to perform together with Kristaps Grasis, the Modern Chamber Music Ensemble, the One-Eyed Wolf Band, and as a solo artist.
